Product Description

iGrain Millers Organic Thick Rolled Oat, 50 Pound -- 1 each

Product Features

Thick rolled oats are made from kilned, whole groats processed by steaming and flaking. These oat flakes provide a textural difference (a more solid bite than regular rolled oats) while still maintaining the high nutritional value common in all oat products. Thick rolled oats are frequently used in breads, energy bars and granola. The thickness and absorbency can be adjusted to fit your needs.

Great Thick Rolled Oats, just like we like them.We use these to make up a whole batch of Maple Cinnamon Raisin Oatmeal for the whole week... 3 quarts of water, 1+ cup raisins, 2+ tablespoons cinnamon, pinch of salt, 1/4-1/2c brown sugar... bring to full rolling boil, then stir in 1quart + 1cup Thick Rolled Oats, Return to a boil and turn off burner. I like to slosh in some maple extract (or vanilla) which I buy by the quart... (you could use maple syrup instead of the brown sugar and extract). I also like to squirt in a generous amount of Barleans Flax oil, and stir in. I give my oat/raisin concoction a stir every few minutes as they continue to thicken with the heat turned off. Once they are a nice consistency, still whole slightly chewy oat pieces in a thick enough mixture to allow the plumped raisins and oats to remain suspended and evenly dispersed, then I serve some with a little milk and allow the rest to cool covered off the burner, then transfer to and store in fridge in a large plastic bowl with lid or ice-cream pail, from which we dip out servings the remainder of the week, and heat in a microwave in ceramic or corelle cereal bowl covered with a saucer till hot. An overly generous 1-cup serving is piping hot in 2-4 minutes and ready for a slosh of nice cold milk. HEART HEALTHY and better than even sweeter processed cold cereals, Right? :) Hope you enjoyed this "review" turned recipe... Lol... Blessings! :) Meg
